角色二:商界

I am Chong Aaron and I'm acting as a businessman. I think businessmen are very important because people "need" festivals' traditional products for every festivals. For example, we can't celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival without moon cake, right? So it is a good chance to earn money by selling traditional products and new products. We will work with the mass media and pay for advertisement in order to introduce our products to the public. But we are responsible for the comsumption trend of traditional festivals. As we continue and continue to introduce our products by advertising, people started to pay attention on the products and forget the true meanings of the traditional festivals.

角色三:市民

As a residents of Hong Kong, many people enjoys having festivals. We may have patrties, presents, food... And the most "important" thing: holidays. HK residents are always busy. If there are festivals, it will certainly become a good time for residents to enjoy themselves. They may go shopping, eating and travelling. This will cause the consumption trend of traditional festivals. People will start to care about only buying presents, having big meals, travelling, etc. This will make us forget the true meaning of festivals.

角色四 文化人士

I am Leung Ka Kei Alex.

I am acting as the cultural figures.

I do not support the consumption trend of traditional festivals. People just want to increase the trading activities in order to earn money. As a cultural figure, I have a great sense of belonging to tradition cultures. It is a pity to loose all the traditions. The unity of people can be promoted through the celebrations. But they now just compete with others through businesses.

角色五:傳媒

I am Wong Pak Long, Roscoe. I am acting a mass media. As the mass media, I can though the advertisement like TV programme, internet, newspaper... to do my job. About affecting to people and businessin festivals, I can do the good guy, bad guy or even both for two. Firstly, let me taking about the good one. I would tell the meaning behind that festival to the people. And the people would know about the meaning of that festival. This is good for the people, and let we keep the history about it. Secondly, about the bad one. I would tell the people that what is that product is good as good as possible. And then the people will buy that produce in that time. This is good for the businessmen because of the huge profit. Therefor it brings festival being commerce. Thirdly, doing two of them. Let find an example, like a brand of buying moon cakes. A dog buys a box of moon cake in the Mid-autumn Festival, and it rings the door bell, then the man open the door, also inside the flat, there is a family together happily. This advertisment not only tells the people the celebration in the Mid-autumn Festival, but also helps the compeny to sell that product. That means the mass madia can do both of things. In conclusion, the mass media can telling the meaning of that festival to all the people, also help that company to sell that product, and then let the poeple buy it. That means we can make a festival being commercial, or make a tranditional festival as well. The mass media has the power to do the dissision of it.

7/12 LS netbook discussion (final version)

Firstly, in a aspect of the attitude to ghosts, I would like to celebrate Halloween with my kids. Halloween is a festival about ghosts. But some kids don’t like it because they are too scared. In fact, ghosts are not real. They are just imagination of people. Therefore, I'd like to let my kids to celebrate it, in order to let them understand that ghosts are not real and scary.

Secondly, In a cultural aspect, Through the celebration of Halloween, the traditions, i.e. trick or treat, can reflect the basic meaning of the festival. Children can celebrate it happily. If we have kids, celebrating Halloween can let them learn more about it.

Thirdly, About the meaning of it, different people have different view points. Some say (Especially Chinese) we should be scare of this festival because the myth said that they would go out and scare the people. IN the western place, the said we would celebrate it, i.e. “trick or treat”, wear the funny/strange clothing, though they firstly wore them for scaring the “ghost”. There are some different between two places, but we still think we should follow the western-don’t be afraid of the ghost.
